The Grand Finale or Just the Beginning?

The Smith Tennis team wrapped up its spring season with a tough match against Div. I opponent Holy Cross this past weekend. Although Smith lost 7-0, the match was closer than the score indicated. Both the number two doubles (Ally Hawkins & Mindy Chu) and number three singles (Mindy again) positions were decided by tiebreakers! The match was the Pioneers second of the weekend, and on the way home, the team decided that they preferred having double headers versus back to back matches on the weekend. It looks like they are already looking forward to next year!

Although the Smith tennis season's spring competitive season is over, the fun is certainly not! The team will be heading to their end-of-the season dinner party at Spaghetti Freddy's this Sunday night (can we say.... .free breadsticks!) In addition, the team will be going out with a bang this Friday night when they host their final "Twilight Tennis" night under the lights. This end-of-the-season round robin doubles fundraiser should be a great success thanks to the beautiful weather that is predicted and the promise of a pizza party as well!

Even though the Smith Tennis team will be headed in different directions this summer, we hope to keep everyone posted on the team's summer adventures and travels, and of course, tournament play. The team will also use the summer to work on technical adjustments to their game, so that they can come back in the fall even stronger. All players from the spring team will be returning next season! Go Pioneers!
