Decisive dual match win

Smith College Tennis ended the dual match fall season with a decisive win over Clark University 9-0. The Pioneers started out strong on the outdoor courts with aggressive doubles. Each team worked on coming to net and ending the point with a volley. Rain interrupted play twice and it was inevitable that the match move indoors into the indoor tennis facility with the newly renovated lights. The match lasted four hours but Smith controlled the play throughout. The doubles teams of Teague-Inskeep, Oblamski-Dick and Hawkins-Steiner each improved their doubles record. Isabela Pal and Anne Belmonte posted their first varsity singles match wins for the Pioneers.

The team will be entering the historic NEWITT (New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament) October 16,17 and 18. This prestigious event is held in the Five College area of the Pioneer Valley. Smith serves as a host site for the largest regional tennis tournament in the country.
