Smith tennis traveled to Wellesley on Saturday, September 12 for the conference opener. We were forced indoors due to rain and the teams played on the fast mondo surface at Wellesley. Although Wellesley won the match 8-1, all matches were competitive and the spirit was high. Holly Reich, first year, brought in the lone win for Smith at number 2 singles with a determined style and three set victory. Alanna Dick battled in three sets down to the wire and was edged out in a tiebreaker by the number six player from Wellesley.As described by a vertern member of the Smith tennis team: "Our team is a great mix of talent, experience, heart, dedication, laughter, and fun and it is a great atmosphere to be in. As classes become tougher and the season become more demanding with matches/tournaments, I think that the great connection among everyone will help pull us through."
