Smith College Tennis goes to Hilton Head Island

The Smith College Tennis Team arrived to Hilton Head Island, SC on Sunday eve, March 12 after a long day of travel. The team settled in quickly and prepared for a match against Nazareth College the following day. The Pioneers have worked hard this spring in preparation for the season and it shows. It was not; however, enough to stave off the Golden Flyers who dominated the overall match with a 7-2 victory. Winners for Smith were Gianna Teague at number 1 singles and Ally Hawkins at number 3 singles. Ally posted the most dramatic match of the day by coming from a 1-5 deficit to win the first set in a tiebreaker, lose the second set in a tiebreaker and seal the victory with a 10 point match tiebreaker.

Smith moved on Tuesday, March 15 to take on Heidelberg College. The Pioneers took control from the beginning winning 9-0. Smith Tennis will be back in competition on Wednesday vs Spring Arbor and Thursday vs Rhodes College on their spring tour before heading back east.
